Rainbow nation notions

So often we get asked about life in South Africa. The truth is, like anything, it depends on your perspective.

Because we have been away for so long, we can be very sentimental. But then we have Big G—ever the realist to bring us back to earth. It’s not always rainbows and big game viewing over there…

Yesterday when we spoke to Big G he reminded us that our little venture is providing much needed jobs for the trio of super talented guys employed in the South African workshop. Guys who need honest work to provide for themselves and their families.

So today we are feeling a little more determined to keep this business going so that we can continue to be a source of light—however small—in a corner of the world that needs it.

Yes, South Africa is achingly beautiful and gritty. And this photo reminds us that the city can be every bit as stunning as the African bush.

We miss both places. Which is probably why we love sharing every lekker detail of the restoration process with you!

We are so proud that our vehicles are being restored to their classic beauty in the rainbow nation by incredibly kind, big hearted and super talented South Africans. And when the Defenders they rebuild arrive here in the USA they bring their stories, their grit and their beauty along with them.
